MIVA Merchant comes equipped with Store Morph Technology™ (SMT) to enable customization of your store in ways limited only by your imagination. A basic store design is provided for you, which you can use as is, or you can modify it in any way you choose. You can even create something that isn't a store at all, such as an online museum or college course catalog.
Two simple, but powerful tools let you completely control the appearance and functionality of your store: Pages and Items.
Pages are the screens shoppers see in your store. You are familiar with them already, for instance, the Product List, Basket Contents and Invoice pages.
Pages are made up of collections of graphical and functional elements called Items or components. You can use the existing pages, modify them, or remove any you do not need. To learn more about customizing your MIVA Merchant store see Store Morph Technology (SMT) - Working with Page Templates. Also learn how to Add or Edit Pages.
Items should not be new to you either. Items include user interface components which are seen throughout your store like buttons, fonts, colors. Design elements that are used only on certain screens are also items. This includes the category tree, product list, and navigation bar.
You can assign any item to any page then use the item or the entities it provides on that page. You can also remove any item from a page when you do not need it. Refer to SMT Items & Entities and the Pages Where They are Used to learn about the items applicable parameters, entities, and examples of each way they can be used in a page template. There is also a listing for each item showing all the pages where it is used in a default store design.
Items, or components, are a type of module. Each user interface item in MIVA Merchant is defined in a compiled MIVA Script file (.mvc). In addition to working with them here in the Items list you will also see them under Modules at the domain level. For details see Add or Edit Items.
