Upgrading to the MIVA Empresa 5 Engine

The following is intended for Web hosting companies transitioning to MIVA Merchant 5 from earlier versions. If you are an online merchant with a MIVA Merchant store, you can disregard this information.

MIVA Engine

Download MIVA Empresa 5 from the MIVA Small Business FTP site. You should have received the required FTP information in an e-mail message.

MIVA Merchant 4.24 has been tested to run on the MIVA Empresa 5.00 engine. The converse will not work, due to new libraries.

Microsoft Windows

MIVA Empresa v5.00 and MIVA Mia v5.00 kits will install and configure the newly required libraries.

UNIX

The MivaSQL or the MySQL database library must be configured in your httpd.conf.

For example:

SetEnv MvCONFIG_DATABASE_MivaSQL /usr/local/miva/lib/databases/mivasql.so

SetEnv MvCONFIG_DATABASE_MySQL /usr/local/miva/lib/databases/mysql.so

Setup

Please see the installation instructions for database type and connection string information.

MIVA Merchant

All Platforms

MIVA Merchant 5 is designed to run in parallel with MIVA Merchant 4.x installations. An export utility module, upgrade5.mvc, is available from MIVA Small Business, via the FTP site. You should have received the FTP information in an e-mail message from MIVA Small Business.

Instruct your MIVA Merchant clients who are upgrading to version 5 to follow the directions provided here: Upgrading Stores to MIVA Merchant 5
